Before you book

A package, a card, or a deposit: ask about a refund first

Ask whether a package, a stored-value card, or a deposit can be refunded, and on what terms, before you pay. This site does not hold the money.

A stack of cards with a circular arrow beside it

A package of visits, a stored-value card, or a deposit can be hard to get back if you do not ask first. Ask whether it can be refunded, how long you have, and what the shop keeps. If the shop will not say what happens to the money when you cancel, treat that as the answer. This site does not hold the payment and cannot reverse it.

You can ask to pay for the single visit you are booking. A package is a separate choice. The price of that single visit, including fees the first number left out, is covered in The advertised price, a higher price at the door, and extra fees.

Get the terms before the money moves

Before you payWrite down the answer
Can I cancel, and by when? The deadline, and whether notice has to be in writing
What is refunded, and what is kept?A dollar amount or a rule you can apply, not "it depends" with no rule
Does an unused visit expire? The date, and whether the balance survives it
Is a package the only way to book?If a single visit exists, you can choose that instead

Keep the answer in a form you can show later: the website, a receipt, or a message from the shop. A conversation you cannot repeat is a weak record.

Cancellation is a question the College already hears

The College's 2024 annual report says CMTO's practice specialist received 1,277 questions in 2024, 865 by email and 412 by phone, from registrants, students, clients, employers, and insurers. The topics included preparing a receipt paid by gift card or certificate, and cancellation and no-show policies.

Those questions are not a refund rule for your shop. They are evidence that gift-card receipts and cancellation terms are ordinary points of confusion, including for people inside the profession. Ask anyway. Do not assume a package and a single visit follow the same rule.

Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002 has writing and cancellation rules for some agreements, including personal development services when that part of the Act applies. A gym-style membership is the example the province often explains. A single massage paid at the shop is a different purchase. This site does not decide whether your package meets the Act's definition. Read the statute or ask the shop to point at the term that governs your money. Do not rely on a cooling-off period you have not seen in the contract.

What this site cannot do

We do not take the payment, store the value, or issue the receipt. A card here links to the shop's website. How a listing gets onto the site is in What this site hands you. If the paper you need is a therapist's receipt rather than a spa bill, that is A spa bill is not a therapist's receipt.
